Rich Maston began studying music in the third grade, but it would be some time before he realized how his love of music and helping others would come together in such a cohesive manner. As a young adult, Rich dedicated his summers to coaching youth football and leading youth work groups.

In 1995, Rich received a Bachelor’s of Arts from the College of Wooster, Ohio, after studying both music and business economics.  He continued his education at Arizona State University where he completed his music therapy training. His internship at the Center for Autism Research and Education solidified a desire to serve children with developmental disabilities, and lead Rich to start his own music therapy agency. Presently, as a Clinical Director at L.I.F.E., he enjoys the opportunity to continue practicing music therapy, while sharing his experience and knowledge with the community around him. During his time at Lauren’s Institute, Rich renewed his interest in applied behavior analysis, and after completing his coursework at Penn State University, is now a Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst.

With a passion for playing a variety of instruments, from the mandolin to the Navajo flute, Rich finds opportunities in almost every client interaction to foster growth and well being. He has presented on his approach to music therapy and the treatment of Autism Spectrum Disorder to a number of different audiences around the country. In his spare time, Rich enjoys making music with his wife and two young children as well as spending time on stage with his band at live music venues around the Valley.
